We get to see Flash's perspective on this second part of 'The Button', which, while not as action or moody as the first part is still almost as enjoyable in its own way. Flash uses his experience as a crime scene investigator to try to solve the mystery of the button which has gotten rather complicated by the death of Thawne. Desperate times results in desperate measures as our two heroes use extreme means to get to the bottom of things and literally stumbles into the next cliffhanger ending.

To be able to truly appreciate the 'Secret Empire' crossover you have to be vested in the idea that Captain America: Steve Rogers series' is built upon, that Steve Rogers thinks himself to be a secret Hydra agent. This event is the ultimate culmination of that fact as Steve Rogers uses his brilliant strategic mind to achieve his goal of one nation under Hydra rule. And this 0th issue of Secret Empire does more than enough to launch this new event based on all the build up from the last year.

This story, or rather this crossover was a long time coming and there were lots of expectations regarding this one to say the least. Ever since DC Rebirth started and its ties to 'Watchmen' or rather to 'Dr. Manhattan' were revealed fans all over the world were waiting for further insight into the matter. And 'The Button', after its announcement was surely added excitement with its promise of revealing more about this exciting new direction of DC characters.

Well, the first issue of this new Thanos series is as was expected. If you are getting here knowing nothing about him except from the cameos from MCU movies, your curiosity will increase even more and you will begin to love him. And if you are already familiar and already love Thanos, well, you will buy this series no matter what I say. In reality, this first issue is mostly introductory, setting the stage for the next Thanos epic, which is inevitable to come.

Well, Kong Kenan is quickly and smoothly turning out to be one of my favorite superheroes. He has a eschewed moral compass, is kind of a bully making fun of both fat people as well as being provocative to women, he wants to show off his newly gained powers even at the expense of others and in a sense is a total jerk; yet he seems to have a hidden bit of heroism inside him which makes him almost inadvertently come to the rescue of people (go figure!); and once again more importantly he is a true enough depiction of a realistic Asian middle-class teenager.

Well, this definitely is not what I expected from the 'New Super-Man' series. This is a modern super hero done right; forget the conflicted new 52 Super-man, forget the old/rebirth Super-man who is just too good a person to be believable at times; this here is what should have been the modern version of Super-man that DC was aiming for. I am an Asian and am quite tired of portrayals of us Asian people by the writers at times, but Kong Kenan hits the nail pretty hard and does feel like what a modern day teen superhero from China (or as a matter of fact from Asia) should be. And the drawing does compliment this interesting character in a very fun way. This is what DC Rebirth should be, taking the classics and charging into the new age with style.

Before reading this issue I didn't know much about Green arrow and wasn't particularly interested. But reading 'DC Universe Rebirth' issue made me interested as I learned about DC planning to work on the Green Arrow-Black Canary relationship again. I decided to check out the "Green Arrow: Rebirth' issue which in fact made me a lot more interested with not only the chemistry of the couple but also through the introduction of the new villain's and also with Green Arrows unique perspective of heroism and doing good.

It seems it is a great time for marvel fans who enjoy comics about female spies, as this new series featuring one of the lesser known characters is a very unique and equally engrossing as the new Black Widow series. Great storytelling with a firm grasp on the goal and planning the story arc precisely can make a seemingly disjointed story be actually quite intriguing.

This series focuses on Bobby Morse, who having been injected with two experimental serums is under constant medical monitoring by S.H.E.I.L.D. This is her story going through her life as a super-spy while having to deal with these encounters and the story is told in a unorthodox way as to being a bit funny as well as keeps the reader wondering as to what is actually going on.

The character of Bobby is quite interesting with her sharp sense of humor as she keeps trying to totally ignore the problems she is facing until she faces then straight on. The story progression is quite hectic and despite having no real action I just couldn't stop turning the pages trying to get my grip on what is really happening. There is fun cameos by various well known marvel characters and the drawing is also done in a realistic way as to give the characters believable attributes. And another strong aspect about the drawing is that it draws attention to the various side gags and cameos that makes this a much more fun read.

The one thing that can be called a shortcoming is once again the disjointed approach, as before reading the last page where Chelsea explains about her unique method of storytelling, everything might seem a bit too strange.

I quite enjoyed this first issue and will definitely return for more, I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Mini-Comic-Review - Black Widow #1

Comic is a medium that can convey so much enjoyment with so little words if it is in capable hands and this first issue of 'Black Widow' just showcases that. It only has minimal dialogue and barely any plot, yet it provides its entertainment through non-stop action and reminds readers of the opening of a masterfully done spy movie.

This issue does not provide any backstory or puzzle readers with status quo or world building. You don't have to worry about reading back issues or search the net for info, rather you can just sit tight and start to enjoy the ride. It effortlessly throws us into a chase and the thrill of it. Natasha has taken something from S.H.I.E.L.D. which turns her into an instant enemy and everyone starts chasing her to get it back. The story is very fast paced with top notch action sequences which just focus on the fact that despite having no real power Natasha is quite a formidable foe for any adversary. Throughout the issue Natasha battles her pursuers across various locations and the reason remains a mystery. 

Chris Samnee does an excellent job with drawing as his drawings sound way louder than any words and makes it so much more fun reading than a comic choke full of texts. The panels are executed perfectly conveying movement and urgency and the excellent coloring by Matthew Wilson adds much more to the overall mood as well.

This is one of the most promising new series by marvel without a doubt and I am quite sure most of the people who had the pleasure of reading it will pick up the series due to its uniqueness and simple and pure entertainment value.

A well deserved 4.5 out of 5 stars from me.

Tap Titans as a game is a total mixed bag. In terms of game play it is as simple as can be with being a mindless clicker, yet on the other hand it also features rpg elements in a very fun and easy way. You have level ups, skills, other heroes to recruit as well as a simplistic and often times quite boring method of grinding to make you fell like playing a rpg.

There is not much to say about Miles Morales' official relaunch as a part of the marvel universe after Secret wars. Except the fact that he is as cool and fresh as ever, having the same interesting cast of characters and the same teenage superhero issues of trying to juggle life and heroics and making quite a mess of it.

So, in the Marvel universe Secret Wars has come to pass, the universe is reborn and Miles gets the title of the adjective less Spider-man. But in a manner of speaking nothing has actually changed much as Miles is his same old-self and have mostly the same supporting cast, while we do get to see some  appearances from the marvel universe characters. 

The storytelling is as smooth as ever with crisp and fine looking drawing which gives main characters both unique personalities and charisma. And it also seems we will get to explore the relationship between the two spider-man personas.

The downside of the issue is that the story seems a bit to slow for my tastes; to me the issue could have been a bit more new reader friendly with a bit more background info; and the inclusion of Mile into the same universe instead of having his own universe still feels like a idea that could backfire at any moment.

This promising start gets 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Mini-Comic-Review - Uncanny X-Men #2

Ah, the second issue of a new series. Burdened with the responsibility of taking the positives and discarding the negatives which is always a tough job for the writers. This issue had a mixed bag in this regard.

The main plot-line is really lacking as it is hard to be interested in the story other than having interest in the diverse cast of the protagonists. The villains, Dark Riders seem so unmatched in their potential against the giants in the team that the fact that they keep defeating the heroes seem really unlikely. On the other hand the introduction of Mystique into the mix with the already fascinating cast of characters does add much hope for the future. In terms of characterization once again the main entertaining facet of the story is the banter between Monet and Sabretooth; while the promise of interesting development in case of Magneto and Psylocke does seem an enticing possibility for the future.

The art seems a bit disjointed and out-of-place at times, also the facial expressions might seem a bit repetitive as a whole. But the action sequences are done with exquisite detail and the overall style is quite crisp and smooth.

Once again the hope of things to come in the future is the only thing that will make me read this series in the future issues. 

But this one only gets 2 out of 5 stars.

Mini-Comic-Review - Uncanny X-Men #1

The newest team of Uncanny X-Men does show a lot of promise in its cast of characters and a promising cover to entice the readers. The premise of the marvel universe at the moment accompanied by the recent changes in status quo also adds hope of something great for the fans.

But sadly the first issue of this new ongoing does fall far short from expectations. The mission feels not-so-heroic or neither does the characters really feel motivated enough. The team doesn't seem to gel together either, its really hard to believe that these guys have a lot in common to make the teamwork as a unit. The surprise twist at the end revealing the antagonists of the upcoming issues also fell a bit underwhelming compared to the team roaster.

The saving grace of this issue is the promise of something better in the future specially thorough some moments in case of Magneto which reminds us of the awesome solo series; through the friendly banter between Monet and Sabretooth which promises some interesting team dynamics in the future; and the new costumes do look incredible too. 

The first issue only gets 2.5 out of 5 stars but I am hoping for a far better future for the series.
