No matter how good a story is, if it is unnecessary, more often than not it loses its value. Unfortunately, that is the case with this comic book. While it is quite a fun read as a standalone as the story is already known this only seems like a cash grab.

This issue tells us how the Avengers came to be on Boston when Leviathon's started attacking simultaneously all over the world. The story has basically two parts, first it tells us how the Avengers came to Boston on a seemingly a simple mission from Spider-man, then suddenly about the fight that started upon the arrival of a gigantic monster (previously seem on 'Monsters Unleashed #1).

The story is quite fun and action packed. The banter between the heroes is also done quite well and the pace is pleasantly hectic, overall giving the issue the feel of a blockbuster action movie. But the fact is we have already seen this fight, and that just really takes the fun out of everything.

The art is simply gorgeous. Sean Izaakse's illustrations are quite amazing and he knows what he is doing and his drawings add much flavor to the overall feel of the event. The coloring by Frank D'Armata is also top notch and makes the action pop out at times right out of the pages. The art almost makes the issue worth buying if not for the overpricing.

Hopefully the upcoming tie-in's won't be like this one, but focus on other aspects of the event rather than retelling stuff. Only then will this event going to be as fun as it promised to be when first announced.

This gets 3 out of 5 stars from me, 2.5 (full marks) for the art and .5 for the story.
