Book - We Are All Completely Fine
Writer - Daryl Gregory

Published By - Tachyon Publications

First things first, I got this book from NetGalley, so thank you netgalley and Tachyon Publications for this opportunity.
So What happens to the people who encounter supernatural elements and suffer a personal tragedy due to it  after the said event? What if there was a psychologist who tried to create a therapy group consisting of these people? Aren't a new tragedy bound to happen? Daryl Gregory does a fine job of telling the story of such a group of people. The result is quite enjoyable with an interesting story that keeps you wondering throughout; a cast of unique and somewhat creepy characters; and a bit of a new kind of approach to tell the story to spice up the encounters. I will try not to spoil anything from the story cause I think this book is much better when going into it on a blindfold.

The author tries a method of starting the chapters from the viewpoint of an unknown member with a unique approach of using first person plural pronoun (using we) and then eases into third person narrative to tell the story which really adds to the mysterious and weird atmosphere in a fun way to begin with. These group of people who suffered various tragedies dealing with the supernaturals are still now reeling from their experience and it is apparent in their conversations and behavior. All through the whole story the author tried to convey that these people are not normal and that made the plot that much more intriguing.

Harrison, Stan, Barbara, Greta, Martin and Jan; all of them are characters who even in this short story shines on their own accord. And that is another triumph for the writer. We get to feel their despair and pains with them and the author also made us able to understand their personal struggles to deal with the past and the consequences. There are hints and pieces thrown everywhere about their back story in an artistic manner which keeps a reader interested to find out more; about halfway through the book you start wondering what is the connection between all these people and also what is gonna happen to them. Suffice to say, there is not a dull moment in this novel throughout the whole length.

The only real complain I have is about the ending which kept a lot of things unexplained and also about the feeling throughout the read that this book should have been longer. Hopefully the author will write a sequel or something to make amends.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.
